Tennessee High takes top honors at the 36th Annual Lonesome Pine Band Festival

Despite a bitterly cold Saturday afternoon, there was warmth for the fans of the Tennessee High Band program on Saturday, as the Mighty Viking Band of Bristol Tennessee took top honors in the 36th Annual Lonesome Pine Band Festival.

The Mighty Viking Band led by director Tom Padgett, took top honors in Class AAAA competition on their way to the Lucian Priode Grand Champion Award presented at the end of the competition at Carroll Dale Stadium on Saturday night in Wise.

Sullivan Central's Cougar Band of Blountville, TN was the Cavalier Pharmacy of Wise Reserve Grand Champion Award winner as the Cougar Band took top honors in Class AAA competition as the second top performing band on the day.

Sweepstakes award winners per class included: Eastside High School in Class A, and Holston High School in Class AA along with Sullivan Central and Tennessee High in Class AAA and Class AAAA respectively.

Holston High School took the David Tipton Soloist Award presented by A&G Coal for the best soloist performance on the day.
